About me.

I’ve been working as a graphic designer for the past 19 years, ever since graduating with a Bachelor of Design in 2006. Over that time, I’ve created work for websites, posters, banners, cans, skateboards, album covers, invites, business cards, collector pins — and more!

2002

I completed a Diploma in Computer Graphic Design at Natcoll (now Yoobee).

2006-2011

After some freelance work, I graduated with a Bachelor of Design in 2006, majoring in Visual Communication. My studies covered graphic design, illustration, web design, advertising, and art history.

My first role was at UC Design in Christchurch—a real-world crash course in applying everything I’d learned.

2011-present

I worked at Gravitas Media in the Waikato until the end of 2019, then joined Bay Venues as Senior Graphic Designer in 2020, where I continue to work today.

Why 'crank'?

The name Crank was inspired by one of my design tutors, Rob Lovelock. He’d often look at a piece and say something like, “This works… but how can we really crank it up a bit?" That phrase stuck with me. It’s become my design philosophy:

Step one— make it work.

Step two— elevate it.

Sometimes that means adding more. Sometimes it means simplifying. Either way, it’s about pushing beyond functional into something memorable. Thanks, Rob.

Let's work together!
